How We Apply Dental Bonding

Posted .

Dental bonding can be a useful tool for improving the look of your smile. It involves placing a tooth-colored material to fix issues like discolored or chipped teeth. We generally go through the following process in order to give you these benefits.

We start by giving the surfaces of the teeth that will receive the bonding a rougher texture. The composite resin that we use for the bonding has an easier time sticking to the teeth this way because it needs something to grip.

We then determine what shade of white your teeth are. We can then make the resin so it matches that color. We want it to just vanish when we place it on your teeth.

Once it is ready, we place the bonding on the teeth. We then harden it so it stays where we want it and has enough stiffness to bite into food.

The last few things to do are to shape and polish the bonding. Our dentist, Dr. George Yzaguirre, can skillfully craft the resin so it has the shape of your teeth. Through polishing, he can make sure it has a sheen that is identical to your teeth. Overall, the result can be a smile that looks neat and attractive.
